The Reason For The Season

4 Ways to Invest in Yourself

As my 20th birthday quickly approaches my thoughts have been largely focused on the importance of investing in yourself. It seems that these late-teen and early-twenty years are often filled with great uncertainties. This leads many of us to begin to question our friendships, intentions, jobs and even ourselves. These are crucial years where investing the necessary time to discover what you want your next step in life to be should become a top priority. If you make the decision to invest in yourself now it will eventually become secondhand nature and may very well be the best thing you can do for yourself.

Happiness is a choice. It is so easy to get caught in a rut and decide to stay there instead of focusing on a way out. You must make the decision to choose happiness over all else. It is completely acceptable and encouraged to take the necessary time to discover what you need to do to feel the happiness you may be lacking. Don’t allow your circumstances to hold you from finding every reason to be grateful and when you choose to focus on the positive aspects of life instead of the negative, great things begin to unfold. Choosing to invest in yourself in this way maintains great value as you deserve to live your life feeling fulfilled and happy.

“When I wake up in a bad mood, I try not to stay in one. Learn to make the best of what you have.” – Faith Hill

Investing time in building your confidence is so crucial. When you know your worth and value others will begin to take notice based on the way you hold yourself. This can be done by working to develop a personal understanding of your worth. When you know your worth you begin to gain the courage needed to speak your truth. The more you understand your worth and love yourself, the more confident you will become when it comes to sharing that love with others.

“Anything is possible once you believe you are worthy of achieving it” – Jason Pockrandt

When you are feeling like crap it becomes difficult to invest in yourself. It is so important to take care of your health and one  I struggle with quite often. Focusing on fueling your body with the necessary nutrients to stay energized can be difficult. I try to focus on eating the healthier options, but honestly fried chicken, burgers, and quesadillas are really hard to say no to. It is also important to exercise daily. It is very difficult to find time to do this when it isn’t a part of your daily routine. Take the first step and start small. Working out is not necessarily something I look forward to, however, when I choose to view it as an avenue of stress-relief it becomes less of a chore and more of an opportunity to better myself along with my physical and mental health.

“Your own personal health is your own personal choice, all the way down the line” – Melissa Etheridge

Is there a particular hobby or skill you have always wanted to try? Why not begin to develop that skill right now? Now is the time! Learning new skills or working to further developing and maintain your current skills can lead to incredible opportunities. You may end up meeting new friends along the way, creating beautiful memories, and investing in the things that make you happy. You never know until you try when it comes to working on current skills and developing new ones.

“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice” – Brian Herbert

Although investing in ourselves is an effort, I can promise you that when you begin to do so a whole world of opportunities begin to open up. When you invest in yourself emotionally, physically, and more, it will allow you to become a greater version of yourself. Greatness inevitably attracts greatness. What will you do to focus on and invest in yourself?

Biggest Dream Achieved!

This isn’t a post I would normally share, however, I wanted to share this one for myself. I want it to serve as a reminder of the greatest day of my life and one I will truly never forget.

On July 8th, 2018, the day I had been counting down to finally came around. I had traveled more than 20 hours to meet someone whose music and example has helped me through so many moments both good and bad.

I had the privilege of a lifetime to meet Faith Hill and Tim McGraw during their 2018 leg of the Soul2Soul tour. It was by far the best show I have ever been to. Faith and Tim along with their entire crew made the VIP experience more incredible than I ever thought it would be. Directly after the meet and greet, as I was shaking and crying with excitement and happiness, I was so surprised to learn that the autogenerated ticket that I got when I purchased this package had placed me directly in front of Faith’s entry point onto the stage.

The show is filled with energy, power, incredible vocals, and an endless amount of love shared between these two lovebirds. I am headed to their show again tonight and I can’t help but feel so lucky to see them once again.

Below I will share my feelings and thoughts that I wrote directly after the meet and greet and show! Oh, and of course my cute meet and greet photos will be included!

I shared this on my Instagram the day after I had met them.

“I don’t think it will ever fully hit me that last night happened and my biggest dream came true. Last night will forever be engraved on my heart. I truly don’t think people understand how much this experience means to me. Faith’s music has been something I have leaned on and grasped to through every good and bad moment in life. It was a constant when nothing else was. My biggest dream in life came true last night on July 8th, 2018. I got to meet her face to face. I was the first in line and had to stand in the empty meet & greet room until they appeared from behind the curtains. The only thing I could think about was how insanely gorgeous she was. I have always seen photos but never thought a human could be that beautiful! I wore a dressy gown and heels and right as she walked in she exclaimed: “you are so beautiful sweetheart, what’s the special occasion?” I said the occasion was meeting her and she went straight a hug. I also got lucky enough to get a solo photo snapped with her. I woke up this morning and could still smell her rose scented perfume, I sat there wondering when it is going to hit me like a ton of bricks that I met one of the biggest role models in my life. She is so real and authentic and her example in everything she does pushes me to be a better and stronger woman every single day. Faith, I am completely mesmerized by you and am so grateful I got to stand right in front of where you performed on stage last night. Until we meet again…I love you Faith Hill & thank you for making this the greatest day of my life, forever and always.
Xoxo, Lexie ***Also, I have had so many people dm, text, call, and comment saying that I could pass as Faith’s daughter and let’s just say if that isn’t the biggest compliment idk what is.”S2S070818SouixFallsM&G(2of17).jpg

My meet and greet experience:

I was the first one in line tonight and Aubrey was the sweetest at calming my nerves. I talked to her about her birthday and the Salt Lake City show next week. When it was finally time some of the staff help open the curtain and Faith walked in first and let me just tell you…FAITH IS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON OH MY GOSH! Faith was the first to walk in and see me and was like “oh my gosh you are so beautiful sweetheart, what’s the special occasion?” And I said “you”. I was so awestruck that I practically forgot my name for a few seconds. She goes “awe, aren’t you just the sweetest thing” and then went straight for the hug. She said, “My name is Faith, it’s so nice to meet you”. Tim also introduced himself like that and asked me what my name was. It’s so sweet how they make the m&g’s so intimate. Faith’s hug was everything I could have ever wished for and more. Tim’s handshake was amazing and I got to get two. I was able to snag a photo with the both of them and one with just my girl Faith. We lined up for the photo and she goes you want to be in the middle. I said of course & then I looked her on the eyes after the photo and we kept talking. She then pointed at the camera as if we were going to take another picture. I said, “wait, can I get a photo with just you too?” She said “of course!” Y’all HER HUGS ARE AMAZING and she smells SO GOOD & now my dress smells like her. I was so starstruck and could barely get out any more words but Faith was so sweet about it. We talked a little more and then Faith gave me one more hug and Tim gave me a hug/handshake. My entire life is complete. I have met the woman that continually makes me strive to be a better human each and every day and it was more than I could’ve ever asked for. So damn blessed that I was able to get this opportunity and I will never ever  take it for granted. Faith & Tim, I LOVE YOU❤️You are truly my heroes and I am ready to scream every single song at the top of my lungs.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for their music and the power that it has. Faith’s music makes me feel so empowered and her example only exemplifies that empowerment more. I am so blessed that I was able to save up the money to make this opportunity possible. I worked to make my biggest dream come true and it was the greatest decision I have ever made. If you ever get the chance to witness their gifts in person, don’t let it pass you by.

I will remember this all:

About to head to my final show of the 2017-2018 Soul2Soul tour right now. So many mixed emotions yet still so excited! I will keep you updated!

Focus on Yourself

As humans it is often inevitable that we tend to focus more on other people and things rather than ourselves. As a young adult in today’s society I often feel pressured because certain life milestones aren’t occurring for me. I am only nineteen years old! I truly do not need my sole focus to be relationships, marriage, or children. Although each of these milestones is something I desperately crave for my life at some point down the road, it is deeply important to spend this time by myself to focus on my soul and personal happiness. The summer time is a perfect time to focus some much needed attention on you, your dreams, goals, and aspirations. It is not selfish to make time to make yourself happy and is incredible important to do so.

I decided to come up with a few of my favorite ways to focus on myself and thought I would share with y’all.

  1. Get lost in a good book!

My current top 4 favorite books!

  • Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst
    • I am currently reading this and loving every minute of it. It is a continual reminder that we are all destined for a love that can never be taken away.
  • The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
    • It takes you on a journey to find yourself and work towards reaching light and truth. It reminded me that the mind is a powerful tool and if used correctly can provide a create deal of peace.
  • Troublemaker by Leah Remini
    • I have always had an interest in learning about others beliefs and religions. Remini does an incredible job at sharing her journey within the Church of Scientology and left me wanted more.
  • Radical Self Love by Gala Darling
    • This book stressed the importance of determining what makes you so incredible. It taught me one incredible thing: when you truly love yourself, life is limitless.
  1. Unplug.

Whether it is for a few hours or an entire day you would be surprised to see how refreshing being unplugged can be. I try extremely hard to do this; however, the one thing I cannot go without is my music! Instead I just turn off all notifications to all of my apps in order to still feel unplugged from everyone and everything.

  1. Treat yourself.

It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, but take a day and focus on yourself. Whether it is doing things you enjoy, sleeping in, making your favorite foods, or watching your favorite movies…make a day of it and relax and unwind.

  1. Experience the outdoors.

Trust me when I say I am not the outdoorsy kind of person, however, there is nothing more refreshing than going on a hike or taking a long drive on a sunny summer day.

  1. Single.

If there is anything I have truly learned it would have to be that it is okay to be single. I haven’t had a relationship for almost 5 years now and it has allowed me all of this time to understand what my passions, dreams, and aspirations are. Trust me, it really isn’t as bad as it may seem.

  1. Appreciate the little things.

Sadly it is a common occurrence for so many individuals to complain about the smallest things in life. It is crucial to take moments and appreciate all of the things surrounding us. Learn to appreciate being able to wake up with breath in your lungs and the opportunity to be on this earth another day. Learn to appreciate the opportunities this life grants you because you never know when they may not be there anymore. Life is a precious gift.

  1. Learn to love yourself.

This is probably one of the hardest things we are told to do for so many reasons; however, it is so very important. When you are happy with who you are you are able to give love without worrying about if your love is good enough. Spend the necessary time focusing on yourself and falling in love with who you are as a person. You would be amazed at what you can accomplish and the happiness it will bring to your life.

Summer is upon us and I cannot wait to take some necessary time and continue to focus on myself. What will you chose to do?

Love This Life

I have been thinking a lot lately about how this life is a mixture of unique experiences and opportunities and new places and people…or so it should be. It is all up to you to decide how you want to go about life. It can be a magical journey full of defeats and triumphs and should be considered the utmost precious gift.

Now, I am in no way claiming to always be the person who radiates positivity, however, we must challenge ourselves to be positive more often. It seems the first step to loving life is by gaining a better understanding of why it is so magnificent.

Here are a few important reasons I think life is magnificent:

  1. Endless opportunities

Opportunities can be found wherever we turn, but we must be willing to keep our eyes open for them and take the first step of pursuing them. It isn’t hard to find new chances to learn and grow, meet new people, pursue a new job, or follow your dreams. So, what is holding us back? It is most likely due to the human inability to notice the opportunities that are right in front of us, however, it will always be your choice to recognize what opportunities you want to take and take them.

  1. New places, new people

I am finally in a position in life where I am able to save up every penny I have to fulfill this gypsy kind of soul that is within me. I want to travel everywhere, and I think about it ALL THE TIME. I find myself imagining all of the incredible places I could and will see and how many genuine individuals I could meet along the way. Imagine meeting new people in the new places you are exploring who increase your energy and have the potential to leave an unforgettable mark on your life. HOW INCREDIBLE DOES THAT SOUND? My advice is this: if you have the desire to travel, find any and every way to make these desires become a reality because you will not regret it.

  1.  Take a moment to live in the moment

This one is often the most difficult for so many to figure out. Believe me when I say I struggle with this one quite often, however, I am learning to let go of the past and stop worrying so much about every little detail of my future. Every moment might not be the greatest moment, but it is important to love and appreciate each moment and make the best of it.

Take a moment and let that soak in.

Now, why you think this life is beautiful and what are you going to do to make the most of it? Comment below and let me know!

La vie est bella.

La vie est bella. Life is beautiful

It is plain and simple, isn’t it? As humans, we want to believe it is an easily understandable concept. Although life is beautiful, it has the potential to be overwhelming and chaotic. However, I am asking that you join me in seeking the good, the bright, and the positive things in life. Each day we have the opportunity to laugh, cry, and take advantage of the simple joy that life is beautiful. All of these opportunities are one of the many gifts life has to offer.

Let’s begin with the fact that we all woke up this morning with breath in our lungs. We have the opportunity to show love, compassion, and make a difference in the day ahead. When seeking to see the beauty things in life, perspective is a place to start at the dawn of each day.

It is all about perspective.

A couple of months ago I challenged myself to wake up each morning with a positive attitude about the potential of a new day. Sounds easy enough right? I challenge you to try and do the same. Begin by finding your own perspective and personal desire to seek the positive aspects of life. If you wake up in a bad mood, try not to stay in one because it’s worth learning to make the best ofwhat you have.

To start my day off on the right foot, I found a powerful statement that helps to remind me of what I want to accomplish in the day ahead. The powerful statement I begin each day with is as follows: “Live your dream. Show compassion. Create your own happiness. Follow your heart. Enjoy the little things. Laugh out loud. Be your best self. Cherish every moment. Dream big. Embrace every possibility. Discover your passion. Believe in miracles. Create peace. Make a wish. Be spontaneous. Remember to breathe. Fall in love. Today is the day.”

Let those words soak in for a moment.

Such simple words, yet so powerful. Each piece of this saying has its own beautiful, powerful meaning and contributes in a small way to making life beautiful. I just had to take the leap of faith and be willing to live by these words. I want to challenge you once again to find something powerful to start each day off with and you will be surprised at the difference it can make.

Don’t worry I didn’t forget that we all have those days. These are the days where you feel as if everything is going wrong and it is inevitable to get down on ourselves. There will always be these days however, we all must try to seek the good things in life especially during the moments whenwe feel as if nothing is going our way.

Quiet chaos.

Life can become busy, chaotic, and stressful and we begin to miss the opportunities to celebrate the little things and express gratitude for every blessing granted to us. Sadly, it seems to me that humans are wired to notice the negative things before the positive. We all become so wrapped up in the chaos and forget to use the ability to seek perspective.

When I am having a bad day, I force myself to take a step back and examine what is contributing to my emotions. This is real life. I have a choice to let those emotions ruin my day or I can choose to take full advantage of every moment of the day. Instead of getting down on myself, I have to remember that someone like me doesn’t come along often. Iam unique. I have to steer away from the negative and focus on the positive. I am supposed to seek my own perspectives, beliefs, adventures, and memories.  I have a purpose here in this world. It took me a long time to realize all of this due to the world often making me feel as if I am unworthy, unloved, and unwanted. However, I am always reminded that I am loved, worthy and wanted. Whether that is by someone in my life, or whether it is the comfort I find in my belief in God, there is someone who loves me and celebrates my victories in life.

For those of you reading, you are so loved. You are wanted, worthy, and celebrated. Try and be willing to celebrate being unique and seek to find your own perspectives, beliefs, adventures, and memories. Focus on the positive and be grateful for each moment, no matter how hard the moments may be.

Take it from me, a woman who used to have so many complicated emotions about life and my favorite artist, “it’s not complicated to embrace life. You just have to make the choice” to do it.

Follow your own path.

La vie est bella is a constant reminder to never take life for granted. Take a moment today and look around at how incredible life is. It is a personal choice to choose to embrace the life we have been graciously granted.  I named this blog “la vie est bella” because no matter how messy, chaotic, or crazy life can get there will always be beauty in having breath in your lungs.

I want to leave you with this…

Remember to be mindful of the life you have been granted. Please never forget to remain grateful for the breath in your lungs. Always seek to find new perspectives, show love, show compassion, and focus on the positive things. Always find a reason to laugh each day, spread kindness wherever you go. Above all else remember that you are loved, wanted, and worthy. It is my hope you will join me in embracing life and realizing how beautiful it all is.

Find a reason to laugh every day.
